Free Online Guitar Lessons

I think what most people search for when they are looking for Free Guitar Lessons online, either in a Google search, or on any of the search engines, is a site that will contain a series of lessons they can follow along with – maybe some video on how to get started, a few basic chords, and then possibly some lessons on how to play a few simple songs.

Sites like this would make it easy for anyone who has just purchased a guitar, or received one as a gift for a birthday or whatever, to go online and learn something they can feel good about – and not have to purchase lessons for an instrument they may not end up loving.

I mean, how many guitars have you seen stashed in the back room collecting dust? Guitar playing seems to come in cycles. We fall in love with it, and then place it in the corner for a spell – sometimes years.

With that in mind – here is a collection of the very best sites I’ve found that teach basic guitar lessons and – they are FREE! Pretty cool!

You can get 12 free lessons from a dude with a funny spike haircut at V Guitar Lessons. But you’ll first have to sign up for these, and that’s where the upsell comes in. Not a bad thing – that’s the way these guys make their money – but be aware – and if you’re not into getting emails every three or four days from the teacher, Ben Lowrey (love the British accent!) – you can simply cancel and still keep the free lessons.

Next up is what else than Free Guitar Videos. The only thing that bugs me here is the “Premium Download” of the “how to play a song” that sits along site the freebie stuff. Still, you have the music charts and the “watch alongside” video right in the same place. One other thing I noted was that most of their free material is on YouTube – which isn’t a bad place to go either. There are over 16,000 videos under free guitar lessons!

And finally I chose Expert Village which has literally thousands of videos on everything – and they do have a complete section on acoustic guitar. So check it out. Just know that the videos auto-start so keep your volume turned down, OK?

Let me know what you think of these choices and sign up for my updates.
