A Review of Jam Guitar DVD Lessons

July 31st, 2008 at 11:33am Under Guitar Playing

Five CDs allow you to “jam along” with an actual band, using the very same songs you’ll be learning in your lessons. There’s no better way to learn than by playing, and there’s no way to play that’s more fun than jamming with a band. The lessons for Superstitious and Cold Shot are longer on the DVD and have more instructions on how to play those songs, compared to the website versions. Otherwise, the DVD’s include the same material as on this website. Lessons logs, common chords and scales, and useful tips are also included.

All the finger charts and graphs that he introduces in the video lessons are printed in the book for easy review and memorization. There is also a complete guitar fingering encyclopedia with nearly every chord and scale pattern known to man. It was different from the piano - I had many more piano lessons than I did guitar lessons, but they all came in useful to me. Your lesson will begin with the very basics of guitar playing like tuning the guitar, hand positions and holding the pick. You will then progress into detailed lessons explaining the entire fretboard, Major, Minor and 7th Chords, Scales,Rock and Blues progressions.  If you are a beginning guitarist looking to learn to play along with your favorite songs in a few short lessons, then Learning Guitar Step 1 is for you!

The biggest downfall to using a guitar instructional DVD, rather then taking lesson is there’s no one there to ask questions to if you get stuck. If you have the option of asking question in a support forum online then you basically have your every own instructor. Mostly because for only a slightly higher price you get a twice the number of DVD’s, and 3 times the amount of lesson material. But you can find information about the smaller version of the course on the Learn & Master Guitar Website. You acquire media once (mp3’s, midi, lyrics, tab, lessons etc.) and store in Jam Manager. Spend more time playing, less time hunting for your tools!

Though the initial learning process can be pretty quick, the DVD’s contain lessons to perfect for a whole year! The program goes up to the pro level of guitar playing. Also, you can play the lessons over and over again instead of remembering everything the teacher taught that week. You acquire media once (mp3’s, midi, lyrics, tab, lessons etc.) and store in Jam Manager.

You acquire media once (mp3’s, midi, lyrics, tab, lessons etc.) and store in Jam Manager. Spend more time playing, less time hunting for your tools! The lessons are usually short and concise. They focus on teaching you to play more so then theory, and this is what the majority of beginners want. You can also check out our free guitar lessons by clicking on the image to the right.
